Water Vs. Coke

WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.
#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a printed page.

#8.. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?
COKE
#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.
#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.
#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
#7 To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.
#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1 the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.
#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a Hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is, would you like a glass of water?

or Coke?
(got this in an email...how much of this do you think is really true - the Coke part, I mean?)

If the coke parts are true, then those are some helpful hints on things I can use to clean. :)

Urban legends will debunk the coke part, but I think the water part is prolly pretty accurate.

And is it a problem that I read this while sipping my diet coke? : )

LOL I was thinking the same thing as M-Cat ... DIET Coke is okay ... right? LOL

But seriously, I think most of us can say the water part is probably true just based on our own experience.

Great post !! Now I'm off to drink some water ... and pour out my Diet Coke.

Who knows? But I am glad that I am more of a water drinker. I hate Coke. If I'm going to do soda it's usually Dr. Pepper. Not that that's any better.

Yeah when I saw that you could disolve a T-bone in 2 days I thought "Do you have to use a cut that is $10/pound? Can't I just test this with a chunk of $2 hamburger"?

I think ALL of the statements are generally true. Some of the cleaning action of any "oxidizers" is the flushing action of the bubbles. So just the CO2 (carbon dioxide) will carry away topical stains and such. IT IS A FACT though that the acid in most soft drinks is what weakens tooth enamel over time. Water is best in all cirmcumstances though I enjoy a nice Diet Coke on a hot day too!

Awesome post!

You know, I've noticed that when I'm getting enough water, I'm always thirsty for more water. When I've been drinking D Coke frequently, I don't FEEL thirsty but I am.

Somehow after this post I think I need to go get a drink of water! LOL!

Loralee~ Thank you SO much for posting this. I am a water lover and my husband is in LOVE with his coke. I cannot stand it and am always telling him how bad that stuff is and I refuse to let my son have any of it. I am going to me sending him your link!!!

Ewww! Right now, I am very glad I love water and despise soda. :)

The wonderful thing is that if you stop drinking soda in general if you do take a sip of it (especially the brown ones) it tastes so horrible you'll never start again.

This has been my experience as a 5+ year no-soda person.

I have heard many of those things about Coke... they are probably true:) I am going to drink more water today! My latest strategy is that I get to enjoy a Diet Coke when I go out (which is not often) but not at home. Moderation, right?

Loved that blog. We don't have a problem with soda, but I KNOW we're not drinking enough water!! I just put a reminder on a post-it and stuck it on the fridge!
Thanks!
