This is from an email that I received the other day:
This year we experienced and are going to experience four unusual dates : 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11; that's not all ... take the last two digits of the year in which you were born; now add the age you will be this year, and the result will be 111 for everyone! For example - Harry was born in 1957, and 57 + 54 = 111
This is the year of Money!!! This year October will have 5 Saturdays, 5 Sundays and 5 Mondays.
This happens only every 823 years.
These particular years are known as 'Moneybags' - the proverb goes that if you send this to eight
good friends, money will appear in the next four days as is explained in Chinese feng-shui.
I was reading this email to my little smarty-pants Noelle, and she pointed out that the 111 idea happens every year, only last year the number was 110, (or 10 if you were born in 2000 or after) for everyone. And the year before that, 109, etc. It's just about the math. Of course!
And that got me to wondering about the rest of it, and so I looked back and saw that last year, October had 5 Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. In fact, every month that has 31 days has 3 days of the week with 5 of them that month. Not going to take the time, but pretty sure that every year the same hold true.
Just sayin'.
Goes to show that anything that is written in a sensationalized way seems more, well, sensational that it really is! And so goes the news about anything, in general. So we all, (myself included!) need to look past the "wow!" of the story to see what it all really means.

Well, I was about to forward this to my mom and show her what a cool thing it was...and clearly it's not that great at all.
But it was fun for a minute:)
I have to say the math is pretty darn fun though!
My niece is getting married this year on 9-10-11. She wanted 11-11-11 but it is in November in the middle of the week and no one could go then - ha ha!
I've seen the same email and thought oh wow how cool - but now that you've debunked it, I am gonna stick to the realization that this year will be nor more profitable financially than any other year : )
Perhaps less so, with our current economic sitch!
