This is What Heaven Must Look Like Every Day. . .

The beautiful blaze of the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, is caused when material thrown off the surface of the sun collides with the atmosphere of the Earth. The photos below were seen in Yellow Knife, Yukon, Canada

Except for the FREEZING COLD temperature!
THIS NEXT PICTURE IS A FIRE RAINBOW.
IT IS THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.
THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED TWO WEEKS AGO ON THE IDAHO/WASHINGTON BORDER.
THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR.
CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20,000 FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS, AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

I have been fortunate in my life to have seen both of these...I caught the fire rainbow on camera but didn't have one when we saw the Northern Lights...so beautiful!

I love the rainbow one. I've never seen anything like it. Very beautiful.

We got to see them a few times when we lived in Minnesota. AMAZING! Sometimes they look like they are moving. It's like glitter in the sky. Very cool pictures.

What gorgeous photos!

Once, we even saw the Northern Lights clear down here - it was about 2 in the morning and they had a reddish hue.

What stunning photos! Thank goodness you've posted them here because as beautiful as they are, I'm pretty sure I'd never endure the extreme cold required to see the Aurora Borealis.

The Fire Rainbow is incredible. I had no idea.

That does look amazingly gorgeous---but doesn't tempt me even a little bit to go there.

There are also beautiful Southern Lights and they look just like the Northern ones and I haven't seen them either.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but we've been in AK for over three years and we've never seen the Northern Lights. Someday we'll stay up late enough to catch a peek...

Aren't these amazing? I've seen the northern lights too. Things like that help me remember how vast the world is, and how much more there is beyond it.
