Let's Thank Obama . . !

In an observation of Obama making light of the Tea Party's Tax-Day efforts and saying that we should actually thank him for everything he has done http://www.onenewsnow.com/Politics/Default.aspx?id=981056  to for this country so far, I decided to point out there IS something that we really should thank him for.

Our country has been sliding away from freedom and liberty for quite a few years now, slowly but surely. Right under our noses. It has been happening so gradually that the average person busy with a full life didn't really notice. I was raised as a conservative, and the first President I ever voted for was Ronald Reagan. Little did I know that he would be the president that would bring about such great events, not the least of which were the falling of the Wall, and prosperity beyond what we'd ever seen before. I think too many of us were quite complacent. I didn't have the awareness that I have now. I know now that I took it all for granted.

And I have Obama to thank for it.

Why, you ask? It should be fairly clear, especially to my fellow conservative friends.

Because he has accelerated the pace that this county has been going away from it's roots exponentially, and if that isn't a SLAP in the face, and a wake-up call, I don't know what is.   Really, besides the mainstream media, who hasn't noticed?

If this doesn't wake up people who are on the fence or are simply apathetic to take a stand for Liberty and all that our Constitution stands for, I don't know what it will take.

Do we as Americans know what we really want for our country, the still-great United States of America?  Does everyone -every Citizen- know that it takes Involvement and Commitment to their ideals to keep this country Strong and Free, and that we must speak up whenever possible and appropriate?

I just hope that more and more people will be motivated to research the facts of what has been happening to our country these past 15+ months, and go do something about it a the polls in November.   Even better, find a candidate in your state that supports your ideals, who will really make a real change for the better for this country - one that will put it on the road to returning it to it's Constitutional roots.  Put your time and efforts, and if you can, your donations towards those good candidates.

Do what the designers of the Constitution intended for our country - government Of the People, By the People, and For the People.

Great post. I couldn't agree more. This country has been awakened and hopefully more will speak up. I was actually contemplating not blogging the political stuff awhile back (those posts don't get as many comments), but was clearly prompted during Sacrament Meeting one Sunday to keep doing my part to speak out and make others aware. And we all need to continue to pray that our freedoms will be protected, and that we will vote those into office that are right for this country

Tanya -
I know that our country had problems before Obama was elected. I won't dispute that. What I am concerned about is about the steps that our current President is taking. None of what he is doing is going to result in good things for our country. Of course, this is just my opinion. You are certainly entitled to yours!
Oh - and I just realized that you failed to mention the problems that were created during Clinton's 8 years, and the damage the Democratic congress did after they won control in 2006.

Great post, Loralee, I think that a lot of us were complacent, took far too much for granted, so yes, it's fair to thank BO for waking us all up and making us realize that we almost sat back while our nation died a horrible death.

Great post Loralee. I couldn't agree more. I've been very politically active since I was a child (my parent's gave me a real love for our country). My biggest concern now is that the Tea Partiers will splinter the conservative party. This whole movement is shaping up exactly like the Ross Perot thing ... If you remember that is how George Bush, senior, lost the election to Clinton.

The media really played up that guy ... they were definitely trying to suck votes away from Bush and they were successful. The media is doing the same thing now ... I really hope we conservatives wise up this time and not let the media and the liberals pull us apart again so that we end up with the same Democrat control after the November elections.

tanya should be a bit more specific in examples of what she means-

from the facts i'm seeing anything considered negative, done by prior republican president are being continued by barackO-- at an accelerated pace, like never before seen - FOR EXAMPLE---(corruption, bribes, SPENDING & TAXING)

with barackO we got all that AND MORE!
here are some EXAMPLES:
sympathy for terrorist & the countries they come from, an apathy toward Israel, Wow! a complete disrespect & lack of both gratitude and dignity toward our allies. we got a racist who speaks both prematurely and immaturely. we got a president who doesn't read the bills he signs, who is trying to transform america into one that is no longer free. we have a pansy waste whose skin is thin and who attacks and name calls the very people he was elected to represent....shall i go on??
i'll leave it at that for now.

YEAH, THANKS BARACKo- for being such a radical with such a regime, that we were bound to finally wake up, band together and stop the madness!

I think a lot of people could see what was happening to our country but chose to ignore it. Fortunately with the bail outs and recession going on people can't ignore it any longer.

The Professional Politicians must be voted out this fall.
