These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

I am SO glad you blogged this. I did not have the gonads. And now I am super proud of you and a little ashamed of myself.
What a great post!
Loralee, I agree with all 5 of the statements you have posted. I have even sent a few of them out in emails only to have some tell me that I was being rude and mean by putting down those who did not work. Even after I explained that I wasn't referring to those who didn't work for health reasons or what have you many thought my comments were wrong...the people that mostly thought this were good christians as well..go figure. It's pretty clear what those in congress and obama are trying to do and how they want to destroy this country...it's really sad that no one is stopping them
I agree heartily!
In fact, for our Christmas giving from now on, we've decided to give to the 'temporarily poor'. People who have always been contributors but had a bad run of luck or some such circumstance that has left them in a difficult TEMPORARY bind.
I have worked enough with the chronically poor to know WHY so many of them are poor. There are those who try and lift themselves out of bad circumstances and use the tools available and there are those who wallow in it. Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone should go hungry but it doesn't take many encounters with the entitled poor to know that helping them doesn't HELP- it just enables.
Very true and very scary - don't know where were going to end up, but it's a scary thought. I keep trying to be hopeful that if we can raise our families to make right choices, somewhere down the road - somehow the majority will makes some right choices - I keep hoping!
